Ahoy-hoy Everybody!
I bought myself some Christmas presents this month, and thought I’d do a book haul.
Firstly I have “Spanish in 3 Months” by Cisneros Isabel. In my WIP “Brittany & Charli” there is a Spanish class they attend. I thought learning the language might take away impostor syndrome. Better than using Google Translate.
Next I got, “SLUGFEST: Inside the epic battle between MARVEL and DC” by Reed Tucker. I don’t know much about this rivalry. I grew up on DC superhero cartoons and movies. The only Marvel I got into was X-Men cartoons I watched before school while in primary school. I have a few characters who are into comics. I’m hoping the book will help lend some authenticity to their comic-related debates.
And I also got this book from Dymocks, as well as the top two. “The Science Book”. I completely ignored my science classes in high school. My character Kellie loves science. I’ve spent hours scouring science websites. Looking for something I could throw into one of Kellie’s sentences. I remember tweeting; “I DON”T KNOW WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR!” So I’m hoping to learn a thing or two. Knowledge is power.
Lastly I got a book for the Salvation Army Store. I was there finding an outfit for my work Christmas party with the theme of: Thrift Shop. Look how pretty I am! Can anyone say pattern?
I wandered over to the book section and found “The Fault In Our Stars” by John Green. I’ve never read a John Green book, so I’m very excited to read this book. I’m disappointed it’s the movie cover. I personally hate movie covers on books. But for $4.00, I can live with it.
Again, there is a link to my YouTube video. Word of warning, I dance and lip-sync to Christmas carols. I’m a complete dork. Also wanted to mention I plan on doing more bookish stuff on my channel.
Let me know if you also buy yourself Christmas presents. Do you have any Christmas traditions?
